Church Mead Park Runners showing their support for the Samaritans, who are the lead charity for this year's London Marathon.
Nearly 500 runners took part in the TCS London Marathon for #TeamSamaritans.
To quote Tamsin, a volunteer from our branch who is running the marathon on behalf of Samaritans - 'you can talk to a stranger and turn your life around.' We had another volunteer from our branch who is running the marathon on behalf of the Hospice movement - Alastair Hogben. Also we had 3 volunteers at Samaritan support stations at the marathon Geoffrey and Helen at mile 21 and Claire at mile 22.
The Samaritans provide emotional support and a listening ear 24/7 and their message this year is 'Let's support each other to Believe in Tomorrow.' The Amersham branch of the Samaritans is 200 yards from the station and is open to face-to-face callers as well as answering phone calls and replying to emails from anyone who is going through a difficult time. It is a safe place to air your concerns and know you will not be judged, or told what to do.
