During 'Brew Monday' on the 20th January we were at 4 stations, Tescos and Helen's stand at her work - RAF HW. There are some pictures below from the day.
At UK Space Command High Wycombe Helen 1364 arranged both an in person ‘Brew Monday’ event and a virtual one. Posters went up and invites were shared in advance resulting in good attendance to encourage colleagues to catch up and talk. 45 mins to ‘Drop in’ during which time Helen provided biscuits and used some Samaritans leaflets and printable resources including a quiz and conversation starters.
We also had 'Small Talk Saves Lives' where we were at 2 stations, Berkhamsted on 6th March and High Wycombe on 13th March speaking to over 100 commuters at each station as part of the Samaritans national 'Small Talk Saves Lives' campaign.
Below are two comments shared to Samaritans Head Office from 'Brew Monday':
"I awoke in a terribly grumpy mood this morning. It was dark and cold, and I had a day at work ahead of me that I was rather dreading. I eventually got myself to Great Missenden station and was approached by a Samaritans volunteer who told me today is a particularly low point in the year for people and gave me a cupcake.
It had an enormous impact on how I was feeling (the interaction, rather than just the cupcake!). I wasn’t in the place that people are when they call your helpline but in a small way it gave me a real sense of the support you provide. Thank you for the great work you do. It is invaluable.
Many thanks, Catherine"
"I would like to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to the Samaritan standing at Aylesbury Station handing out tea bags and who asked for me to return the favour by cheering someone else’s Monday up. You have cheered up my week!
Thank you! Andrea"
